CLEAR THE FOG - EFFECTIVE TRAINING FOR BREATHY STUDENTS
A workshop for singing teachers who want to decode those airy tones and get their singers unstuck

You’ve seen it a hundred times...

An airy, leaky sound in the students voice that genuinely holds them back from their own goals.

They want it gone... you want to help.

So you try the usual tools.

Staccato drills to try and close the vocal folds.
Bright, 'forward' exercises to clear up the tone.
Maybe trying to not use as much air to sing.

Sometimes they work. But often, we’re left scratching our heads wondering why they aren't landing.

Student progress can slow and options are limited, especially when they want to sing songs with high notes and a bit of belting. There might be a bit of frustration creeping in too?

Also, we get confused as to how to help singers sing more easily WITH breathiness. How can we make it more efficient? Why can some do it easily, and others not?

If this sounds like moments in your 1:1 voice lessons, then this training is definitely for you

"I have attended Chris’ training courses both in person and online, and highly recommend them! I use influences from my training with Chris in most of my coaching, and will continue to attend courses as they have added great value to my work as a vocal coach, and given me an even better understanding of my own voice as a singer.”

Understand the cause of breathiness: much help for breathiness is about bringing the cords together, brightening, or trying to avoid using too much breath. But there are many other explanations for it than these logical ones. Ones that will have you scratching your head because they are the LAST thing you'd think it would be... until you learn more about how backward voice logic really is.

Assessment: Yeah, it sounds breathy or airy. But how else does it behave? There will be a few more subtle clues in that persons body, voice and mind that if we can assess, we'll get to the bottom of things super fast.

What we can help with: Some causes of unwanted breathiness aren't in a singing teachers lane. Knowing what you can help with means you won't aggravate something you can't.

Targeted training: Assessments are a gift: they tell us what to do next. Using these, I'll provide clear training pathways that you can apply to any of your singers for faster results.

How to helpfully sustain breathiness in singers who want it for style.

Q&A: For live participants, you can get your questions answered at the end of the workshop. For those catching the replay, you can learn from these conversations.

If you don't love it, we'll refund you if requested within 7 days!

Major label artists, West End leads, backing vocalists and vocal coaches all put their trust in Chris to take good care of their instruments.

He has even been awarded a gold disc for his input on commercial studio projects.

Through his training company TeachVoice.com and his ‘Evolve’ singing teacher program, he helps coaches to up-skill and navigate the overwhelming amount of pedagogical options today.

Chris is also an appointed affiliate of the National Centre For Voice & Speech in the USA. Through this role, he works with the president (Dr. Ingo Titze) and the board to help bring awareness to voice science and education to the world of singing.

He has presented on pedagogical principles internationally at major voice conferences: Pan American Vocology Association, British Voice Association, ANATS, Vocology In Practice, AOTOS, and NATS (US).

In compliment to coaching, Chris has trained in laryngeal manual therapies and studied extensively with scientists in vocal acoustics, physical and somatic therapy, and laryngology. Through his popular podcast and blog, The Naked Vocalist, he has also had the opportunity to connect and share with many progressive researchers and pedagogues.

All this rests on a 15 years stint on the road as a professional performer, which allows Chris to understand the demands and pressure of a pro schedule on singers today.
